Scott Street Tomato House officially began in 1969, but the roots of the business go back even further. The founders of Scott Street Tomato House began as produce truck vendors. They purchased tomatoes directly from the Florida packing houses and brought them to the Memphis area to sell. Since Scott Street was quickly becoming the hub for fresh fruits and vegetables in the Memphis Area, the founders opened a warehouse on Scott Street to meet the demands of their customers.
Currently, Scott Street Tomato House is a third generation locally-owned business located on Faxon Avenue, in Memphis, 300 yards west of the original location. All repacking, receiving, and shipments of fresh fruits and vegetables are located under one roof, and the multiple shipping/receiving bays make it easier for customers to load quickly.
